Lavon King
Lavon has had a creative personality since her childhood. Learning how to draw and crochet at an early age allowed her to express her happiness and generous spirit. Making blankets and drawings for her friends and family was her initial motivation to create. Since her time at Imagine That!, she has applied that same enthusiasm to learning and making. Although her personality is lively and sweet, there is a sense of melancholy in her paintings and drawings, using childhood memories, dramatic Biblical events, and sad stories from the local news as references. Lavon’s current portfolio of work contains a series of black women Lavon calls ‘Fashion Ladies’.
